Review: Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar 8 Week Program and Cookbook (halfway through)

i-quit-sugar image

So this has been my most recent purchase, specifically targeted to a sugar reduction charge in full force. I was pointed in Sarah’s direction by a friend over twitter and fell in love with Sarah’s mixed bag blog instantly.

An Australian journalist, ex editor of Cosmopolitan (have I mentioned I love Cosmopolitan) and gorgeous brunette with style, perception and wit, I couldn’t resist Sarah’s bundle package of her I Quit Sugar Cookbook and 8 Week Plan.

The I Quit Sugar 8 Week Plan says it all really – Sarah quit sugar, bigtime and for good. Impressive eh? My absolute favourite … More about this

Review: Yogi Licorice Egyptian Spice Tea

Yogo Licorice Tea Review

So my latest tea trial purchase has been an uber successful one. An organic Yogi Tea called Licorice Egyptian Spice – yes exotic as you get!

Liquorice tea was recommended to me by Sarah Wilson in her I Quit Sugar book (my review here) so I thought I’d give it a good try, opting for a fancy variation.

Fair to say I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a strong overpowering licorice scent but this tea is very warming, sweet and satisfying. With additions of ginger, orange peel and cinnamon you end up with an overall blend that’s … More about this

Review: Twinings Chai Tea

Twinings Chai box...a bit pink and pretty

Only suitable that this my first product to be reviewed because I think this product is an absolute gem when it comes to curbing sugar cravings.

I’ve recently been roughly following Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar and trying out a few recipes from the I Quit Sugar Cookbook book as an experiment to see what happens at the real extreme of quitting sugar a bit more hardcore than I have usually gone for. Interested to know more then read my review of this book click here.

One thing Sarah swears by is chai tea to help curb cravings and … More about this

Time to Strut my Stuff at the Total Yoghurt Dance Master Class

Dee and Jesus show us how it's done

An absolute salsa-dance enthusiast, I was delighted when Total Yoghurt invited me to their Dance Master Class event. Digging the salsa shoes back out of the cupboard, I trotted off up to the Frame Studio in Kilburn to shake my stuff.

We learnt a staggering four dances in two hours; the jive; the tango (yes including that cool dramatic look thing); the rumba; and the samba with Jesus Ortiz and Dee Thresher. Dee’s trained a number of celebs into shape and Jesus is an incredible teacher and Salsa king. I literally no joke was in dance off heaven.

Low Sugar High Protein Breakfast: Avocado and Cottage Cheese on Toast

Yes I do have a habit of cutting my toast quite not diagonal and quite not in rectangles!

Yes we know eggs are a fantastic low sugar high protein breakfast option but I’ll admit, they don’t always do for speed. You’re in a major rush, spend ten minutes looking for the travel card and suddenly a quick high carb bowl of cereal with some fruit seems the most convenient and practical breakfast option.

This is highly unlikely to sustain you throughout the morning, so getting some more low sugar high protein breakfast options into your breakfast repertoire is one of the most effective things you can start doing to steady blood sugar and control hunger. It’s one of … More about this

Low Sugar, Low Carbohydrate Cocktails: Best 3 and Worst 3

Pink one please Mr Barman ;)

A few weeks ago I had something to celebrate and cocktails were order of the day. It didn’t take long before one my friends asked ‘I wonder which cocktail has the most sugar?’. Have you ever put thought to how much you might be guzzling down on an average night out?

Whilst I will always promote a number of healthier alcoholic drinks to choose over the cocktail, I understand that sometimes only a fancy glass with bright umbrella will do. You’re by the pool on your oh so tropical holiday, it’s the last five minutes of happy hour, or you … More about this
