Why I searched ‘How to stop eating biscuits’ on Google

“How to stop eating biscuits”

One day at university, in my final year, aged 23 and sat on my bed, I typed ‘how to stop eating biscuits’ into Google. Yes writing this blog, I am becoming evermore fearless of sharing all the embarrassing details associated to my former sugar addiction. So I’d thought I’d tell this story to enlighten and reassure you that if you’ve ever searched something similar into Google too, you’re far from alone.

The story

My exact memories are vague but I seem to remember eating rather a lot, perhaps a good  half of an entire … More about this

Recipe: Sweet potato vanilla breakfast omelette

sweet potato vanilla breakfast omelette

Recently I gave the lowdown on my thoughts on stevia. I was given a box of PureVia a while ago which I haven’t really used. I probably wouldn’t buy this variety of stevia and would opt for a less processed liquid variety, but I had it to use up so thought I would give it a go in a few recipes to test it out.

I know moving away from porridge and sweet breakfasts can be a bit of a hurdle so this could be a nice bridge if you’re still struggling with full on vegetable breakfasts. It’s … More about this

What you need to know about Stevia

stevia health benefits

There’s no doubt about it, sugar substitutes like xylitol, the artificial sweeteners and ‘natural’ sugar sources can all be confusing. I’ve been reading, researching and filling my head with this for over a year now, and I still find it all overwhelmingly baffling at times.

I wanted to get to the bottom of Stevia. Sarah Wilson, my faithful sugar guru, goes with it. Others say it’s processed and natural honey would be better. I decided to do some deeper research and form my own opinion on the new kid in sugar-free town.

What is Stevia?

Stevia is touted … More about this

Review: Nakd cereal bars

Nakd cereal bars review

Now I was in a quandary when Natural Balance Foods wanted to send me some of their Nakd cereal bars to review. I actually had to sleep on it. Why? Because at one point, these little bad boys fed my sugar addiction. They are not the most sugar saintly thing on the planet. Would it be right to review on my blog? And could I live in peace with a whole box of them in the house?

I thought about those who actually might be reading the post, and I figured I could put together quite an insightful piece on … More about this

Why you need to understand your sugary limiting beliefs

inspiration

I’ll tell you now, I’m quite into all this self help malarky. I’m currently reading Tony Robbins’s old school Unlimited Power and loving it. One of the things reiterated is the power of ‘belief’, something that is extremely relevant and applicable to anyone with an ounce of a sugar habit.

As Tony puts it…

“a belief is any guiding principle, dictum, faith or passon that can provide meaning and direction in life….When we believe something is true, it’s like delivering a command to our brain as to how to represent what’s occurring.”

OK, it sounds like I’m getting super deep … More about this
